    In this episode, Andreas goes to Jotunheimen -- home of Ibsen’s Peer Gynt. This lush mountain range is the longest in Scandinavia, and the scenery is majestic.

    The name Jotunheimen translates “home of the giants or trolls”. The name comes from old mythology where it was thought that the giant creatures were born out of the mountains.

    Norway’s Highest Peaks
    Up here you will findNorway’s highest peaks and miles after miles of unspoiled wilderness. You will also find lots of wild berries and game from which the culinary creations of this program is inspired. Jotunheimen is also the home of some of the modern creations of Norway, like the popular ski-resorts, Kvitefjell and Lillehammer, host of the 1994 Winter Olympics.

    Picking Blueberries
    During the fall, the berries are ripe and ready to be picked. For example, the blueberries that complement the first culinary creation of the day, the Sweet Blueberry Pancakes. Andreas makes two variations on the pancakes, the sweet type and the Savory Pancakes with Cheese and Ham.

    Hunting for Grouse
    A major asset of the mountains is the wildlife up here. Reindeer and birds are prize trophies for hunters and a gastronomical treasure for food lovers like Andreas. He ventures out to get some wild grouse — one of the specialties of the area.

    Preparing the Main Dishes
    Andreas uses this exclusive meat to make a very common dish, but in a way you have never experienced before: The World’s Best Cheeseburger made of Grouse, Venison, Pork and Foie Gras. For dessert, he mixes some of the Wild Berries of the area with honey made from heather, bread crumbs and cream cheese.
