The islands stretch from the mainland into the ocean where the warm Gulf Stream meets the arctic current, creating the world’s best breeding ground for cod. The cod comes here in incredible numbers, making fishing the main industry in Lofoten and cod perhaps the most important fish in Norwegian history.

    Ancient Viking Settlements
Today, Andreas takes you fishing on a traditional fishing boat. Surrounded by the spectacular views of the Lofoten Mountains, he prepares a delicious Cod Roe with Cucumber Salad. He also points out the remains of the ancient Viking settlements and explains how they built the boats that allowed them to master the northern seas more than a thousand years ago.

    The Menu
Andreas prepares the main dishes inside an old fishing storage house. It goes without saying that the main course is based cod fish. Adding exclusive truffles and served with a potato-garlic puree, these traditional ingredients together represent a gourmet meal: Cod with Truffles and Potato-Garlic Puree.

The dessert Andreas makes today is exceptional. The tart and tasty combination of Baked Apples with Lingonberries and Honey is actually quite healthy.
