Hiking is definitely one of the most popular activities and suitable for the whole family. The Top 20 hiking program guides you to 20 different peaks, graded from easy green to more demanding red and black. During summer you can also join a guided hike to a mountain called Veslehorn on Tuesdays and Fridays. For bikers, Hemsedal offers 14 biking routes (240 kilometres) that are marked and graded from easy green and blue to more advanced red or black.

There are short day trips on gravel roads and more demanding trips with overnight stays at mountain cabins in the area. The terrain is varied, from asphalt, gravel and cart roads to more challenging tracks and paths, and best of all, you will be surrounded by beautiful nature everywhere! If you like some more adrenalin and action, try the bike park at Hemsedal Ski Resort. Here you can take the lift up and bike back down.

What else is there to do?

Other fun action activities for the whole family are climbing, via ferrata and river snorkeling. If you want some air below your feet, you can try a tandem paragliding flight. In Hemsedal you can also go canoeing on calm lakes with family and friends, join riding camps and 7 days riding tours, or why not relax with some golfing on Hemsedal’s two golf courses.

The river Hemsila goes through Hemsedal and is one of the best rivers in Northern Europe for fly fishing for brown trout. There is a joint fishing permit covering 4 rivers, 18 lakes and a zone for fly fishing only. Join a guided fly fishing tour or a 3- or 7- day fly fishing holiday, including courses and guiding.Mountain farms are typical Norwegian and a “must see” attraction. [The Article continues]
