    Celebrate Midsummer in Dalarna
The original Midsummer tradition has survived here. Every year in June we decorate the Midsummer pole with flowers and celebrate the light and the summer.

    Attractions
Being the tourism region that it is, Dalarna has dozens of attractions and activities. Museums, churches, nature reserves and folklore centers offer fascinating experiences.

    World heritage sites
“The world heritage site is a cultural or natural relic so valuable that it is of importance to all of humanity.” With this in mind, we are very proud that the copper mine at Falun is included on UNESCO´s list of world heritage sites.

    The mountain world
Dalarna´s mountain world is undeniably magnificent. Drink pure water from a mountain stream or pick golden cloudberries. You might even spot a reindeer wandering down the slope. In winter the mountains offer both cross-country and downhill skiing. There are a large number of good ski resorts in Dalarna. Sälenfjällen, Idre, Grövelsjön and Äre are the most well known.

Vasaloppet — the world´s largest ski race
Every year the world´s largest ski race runs from Sälen to Mora. Race day is the first Sunday in March, but an entire Vasaloppet Week consists of seven different races, the shortest more than 18 miles and the longest more than 56 miles.

    Fishing
Hundreds of lakes, rapids and waterways provide the opportunity for all types of fishing. You can even hire your very own lake.

    Wild animals
Bear, wolverine, lynx, wolf and elk – All the big wild animals that live in Sweden can be found in the wild kingdom of Dalarna. If you want to see them in safer surroundings, there are nature reserves here where you can look out across the countryside from platforms and viewing towers. You can also come along on everything from bear and wolf tracking to elk safaris or a visit to the bear research station in Orsa.
