Here you will find the neighborhood where Kalle Blomqvist would have been able to creep around and the veranda where Madicken danced with her father. There are still areas that are exactly as in the books “All the Children in Bullerbyn” and “Emil in Lönneberga.”
The movies about “All the Children in Bullerbyn” and “Emil in Lönneberga” are filmed in the area. Astrid Lindgren´s father, Samuel August, actually grew up in Bullerbyn, which is really called Sevedstorp. Astrid Lindgren´s childhood home is Næs in Vimmerby, next to a former vicarage where Pippi´s lemonade tree can be seen. Boa på Näs, the model for Emil´s shed (snickabo) is run by Astrid Lindgren´s relatives.
Astrid Lindgren´s World attracts visitors from all over Europe and is centrally located in Vimmerby, right where Astrid Lindgren played as a child along with her siblings and friends.
Many types of overnight accommodations are available in the area. There are nearly 3,000 beds, but book early. They are usually completely booked in July! Choose between pleasant hotels, inexpensive youth hostels, campgrounds suitable for children, cabins or from one of our private accommodations.
