Polar Berries
Lyngen in northern Norway is home to probably one of the best berries in the world and definitely one of very few to be found this far north. The delicious cloudberry only grows in northern regions. Since it is quite rare in Norway as well, Norwegians are very secretive and reluctant to disclose the whereabouts of their favorite berry picking spots.

King of the Ocean
In Vadsø in Finnmark, on the northernmost tip of Norway, the fjords play host to the newly arrived Kamchatka crabs from the east. The marine landscape is located about 70 degrees north, just east of the North Cape. It may look quiet and idyllic, but just below the surface of the sea, an army of King Crabs is marching.

Trondheim is the former capital and possibly the most spirited city in Norway. In many ways, it is a city with two spirits. One religious, as represented by the Nidaros Cathedral, and one more profane in nature, for Trondheim is well known for its rich alcohol traditions.

Bread and Butter Issues
At this time of the year, Norway is frozen. Surviving the Norwegian winters is no problem today. But many years ago, the only food that was available during the winter season was whatever could be preserved -- mainly cereals. Grains were used to make porridge and bread.
