The 5 Days Experience from Kirkenes to Bergen
The Southbound Journey on the Coastal Express
You can travel to Kirkenes by either car or plane. If you come by car, you can park it on board and finish off with a relaxing return journey without any driving.
On this route you will be able to see, during daylight hours, the wild and thrilling eastern coast of Finnmark, the Risøyrenna (a channel cut through a sandbank between islands) and the Raftsundet (a long and narrow sound between two islands) which lead through to the Lofoten Islands and Svolvær. The vessel also passes the Helgeland coast with its fabled natural wonders including the ‘Seven Sisters’ mountain range and the Torghatten mountain, with a hole running through it. After this, the route includes the Trondheimsfjord and then the Trondheimsleia, the shipping channel that leads down towards Kristiansund.
The ship stops for longer in the larger ports, giving you time for a stroll around town or a sight-seeing tour. These ports include Hammerfest, the world’s northernmost town, Tromsø at midnight, Trondheim, Kristiansund, Molde during the day and early in the afternoon, then Ålesund at midnight. And then you sail into Bergen early the next afternoon.
